Jackie's Bio
Hi, I’m Jacqueline Butts, the Founder of Sum Clarity. Over the course of my career, I’ve worked to make the tools of money management more accessible and applicable for everyday use in my community. From my time working with New York Life Insurance company, to the many years managing bank branches, and being a licensed loan originator to my most recent role as the Home Ownership Program Director for Portland Housing Center, I’ve been able to serve my community by not only offering appropriate financial products and service, but also teaching financial principles and money management skill sets to help those around me take ownership of their finances.
In my current role, I will continue to demystify money management for the Black community, drawing on my 25+ years in the financial industry and through educational programs, such as “Getting Your House in Order”, a culturally specific financial education course for African Americans. Through a two-year impact study, this course has been shown to have positive and sustainable changes in behavior and attitude toward money. I believe that knowledge is power. I hope that as Sum Clarity continues to grow and empower more people, I can be a catalyst in creating generational wealth for those who look like me.
